About Us
The Bournemouth Bears were established in 2017. After starting off as training team, the Bears first registered a team in the British Baseball Federation’s (BBF) AA league in 2018 where they made the playoffs in their debut season. In the 2019 AA season, the team strengthened their squad and after a lot of hard work and determination, they went on to win the AA Championship after only their second season. Following on from their success, and also the influence of the London Series games held at the London Stadium in 2019, the team continued to grow in the off season and into 2020. Unfortunately, there was not a season in 2020 due to the pandemic, but the team stayed active and participated in a tournament to raise money for the NHS to support those battling the pandemic. After things started to open back up in 2021, and with the amount of new talent and players that had joined the Bears, it was the first year that there were teams entered into both the A and AAA leagues. Both teams, who were flying the Bears banner, were competitive during the season and the AAA team even went on to become the South West League Champions!
With the team moving from strength to strength, the Bournemouth Bears have teams that currently compete in the British Baseball Federation’s South West AAA and A leagues with a youth team rapidly growing on this 2023 season!
Did you know that modern baseball was played in the UK as early as the 1870’s?
As of the 2021 season, there are 90 teams from 48 baseball clubs actively participating in leagues, and 1,500 adult and Junior (under 18) players ranging geographically from London to Liverpool, St Austell to Edinburgh and, of course, Bournemouth!

We are a team that compete in different divisions which will suit any level of experience whether you are brand new to the sport, you’ve played other sports that have similar skills like softball or cricket, or you’ve been playing baseball for years! We have the following brilliant teams:
Triple A (AAA) – This the team for you if you have solid experience playing baseball anywhere in the world! Our AAA Team were the South West League Champions in 2021 so we are one of the best teams around! This is a mixed team for anyone with experience playing baseball!
Single-A (A) – This is the team for you if you are just starting out and are committed to learning a fun, new sport. Our A team has plenty of games throughout the season to allow you to compete with other teams in the region and develop your skills. This is also a mixed team.
Junior Team – For the 2023 season, the Bears continue to grow the youth team for those youngsters, aged seven and above, who are looking for a brilliant team sport to really learn the basics and focus on teamwork.
